Worship Themes - December

December 1               Worship  is  an opportunity to pause in our very busy lives to recognize, reflect and confess things we do that we know are wrong, and yet we continue to do them.  Come to the Lord’s Table this morning prepared to lay down all the guilt and shame that we needlessly carry.  Let’s celebrate that we are Children of God, and we are forgiven.  Pat Lindquist preaches on Psalm 51:1-12 in “We can’t, I can’t, God Can!”

December 8              In the 8:15 service Rev. Montgomery will talk on the reason for Christmas: gifts!  Really: Jesus is God’s gift to us.  How can we be a gift to others?  In the 10:15 a.m. service our choir and instrumentalists will lead our worship in their Christmas Cantata.

December 15            In our 8:15 a.m. service Rev. Montgomery will reflect on the importance of gratitude to God for what God has given us in Jesus. (Colossians 3:12-17).  In our 10:15 a.m. service our youth and Sunday School Children will present their Sunday School Pageant.

December 22:          In both services Rev. Montgomery will reflect on our response of awe to the gifts that God has given us.  Luke 1:38, 46-55

December 24:          Christmas Eve!  4:30 p.m. Family service, 10:30 p.m. Candlelight and Communion.  Rev. Montgomery will preach on the “Blessed Simplicity” of Christ’s birth, based on Luke 2:1-14.

December 29:          We will celebrate Christ’s birth in the singing of Christmas carols---it is the 5th day of Christmas!  Christ is with us.
